HÖRMANN Digital was established in order to bundle expertise in digitalisation within the HÖRMANN Group and accelerate the process of rapidly advancing digitalisation by leveraging lots of synergies. Engineering Day – or how it all started …

In 2018, the HÖRMANN Group held its first Engineering Day – a platform that brings various innovative ideas of the Group together. Along with keynote presentations on innovations and setting up new businesses in the context of the digital transformation, there were interactive workshops to develop shared, interdisciplinary business ideas. The event also sparked the establishment of HÖRMANN Digital.
Impressing with expertise
Digitalisation places particular demands on all companies in the Group. That is why this expertise is bundled in a dedicated unit – the HÖRMANN Digital competence centre. A dedicated group of specialists applies interdisciplinary specialist industrial and IT knowledge to tackle digital challenges. This allows customers and the Group to implement new business models.

On account of the HÖRMANN Group continuously investing in the employees’ expertise and state-of-the-art technologies, the family company has grown to include 30 affiliated companies. The Group is successful in four segments: Automotive, Communication, Intralogistics und Engineering. HÖRMANN solutions help customers to go a step further – or make a quantum leap. Guidance
In the first step, we analyse the company to better understand structures and processes. Questions or weak points are discussed in close consultation with those responsible and ideas for solutions are developed. Thanks to our many years of experience and knowledge in the production environment, we are able to solve industrial problems in a sustainable manner and harmonise them with our experience from other HÖRMANN companies. We combine digital knowledge with our experience and work together with the Hörmann companies to drive forward innovations in software development, data science and machine learning.
Co-innovation
With innovation techniques such as design thinking, we define the right solution together. The aim here is to find appropriate solution approaches that can be developed convincingly from the user's point of view on the one hand, but also profitably from the market perspective of the HÖRMANN companies on the other. In addition, HÖRMANN Digital supports the development of business models around the solution through:

Development
HÖRMANN Digital offers agile software development and consulting on the topics of software architecture, cloud services and develops appealing design concepts for intuitive operation (UX / UI). We serve as an impulse generator in the ideation and concept phase and validate ideas and concepts together with the HÖRMANN companies within the framework of POC's (POC = Proof-of-Concept) and first testable MVP's (MVP = Minimum Viable Product). The customers of the group of companies thus have the opportunity to use a concept that meets all their needs after only a short period of time. Agile, flexible and cost-responsible, we offer the optimal solution accordingly and also accompany long-term software development projects together with the HÖRMANN companies.
Optimisation
We have in-house Data Science competences and can therefore quickly analyse and understand the situation and the resulting questions: Where are the sources of error in the production process? How do certain factors affect productivity? Why does the same problem occur again and again? Using the right tools and methods enables us to analyse production data and investigate these questions in order to extract appropriate clues for optimisation from the data.
Projects with a sustainable approach
With the development of a digital product in the field of "Connected Maintenance" and the evaluation of sensor data for selected machines at the HÖRMANN Automotive plant, a first application for multimodal, bidirectional communication between maintenance management, maintenance staff and machine operators was created. A continuous statistical, algorithmic evaluation of the IoT and process data in real time enables the generation of tradable information and thus the basis for an effective maintenance strategy. A highly qualified team brings up-to-date knowledge and digital expertise to the various companies in the HÖRMANN Group. The widely diversified companies have the opportunity to initiate a project with HÖRMANN Digital for specific tasks in the individual business areas that the company concerned deems highly relevant to the external digitization. HÖRMANN Digital supports the companies with its digitalisation expertise and can apply knowledge and experience from previously delivered projects.
We work agile
An important aspect of our work processes is the strong customer focus according to agile approaches and methods. This leads to a mix of traditional project management, as it is often relevant for customers in the public sector, to agile software development in order to be able to react quickly to changing customer requirements. The team basically consists of experienced software developers & data scientists, a UX / UI designer, as well as a product owner, who coordinates and is responsible for the product development with the respective contacts of the HÖRMANN companies.

Based on our versatile competences, we want to develop sustainable, unique products and services for our customers. In doing so, we always orient ourselves to the market, because we want to understand our customers' wishes and fulfill them in the best possible way. We are particularly innovative in the use of new technologies. This requires specialized technological knowledge. With a team of experienced technology experts, we solve both the problems of the operational business and current development topics with regard to artificial intelligence in production and service.
